The Street Children’s Center in the center of the town of Gisenyi in western Rwanda was run in close cooperation with the Rubavu district government and provided care for up to 50 children and young people who would otherwise have lived on the streets. Here they were able to get food and clothing and spend their time meaningfully. Resocialization programs helped them reintegrate into their families.
In a later phase of the project, a local street worker took care of the children. Among other things, she helped them find apprenticeships.
